Call Back When He Gets Arrested

We wish we had known more about Reactive Attachment Disorder, and the difficulty of getting any help with services post-adoption.

We did not receive support outside of our close circle and church. We reached out to several different groups, including state and federal agencies, requested help, and were given a runaround. We were told that if he stayed in our home, we risked losing our other children to DCFS, but were given no help at all in finding a viable option for him outside our home.

We were told "you need to figure that out," and "call back when he gets arrested," and "if he hasn't set anything on fire yet, we can't help you."

We leaned on friends and church for a season, and eventually were mercifully led to a safe residential option we could barely afford.
