Adopted at 7, knew of the diagnosis but we didn't know enough about it. We wish we would have joined all the FB support groups beforehand. If we knew what we know now we would not have brought this into our family. Child services has had cases against us, from the lies told. There has been two residential stays and 5 in patient all in less than a year. We have broken things, holes in walls, dents in cars, broken windshields, bruises on us, been cussed at, and told they wished we were dead.
Lie after lie after lie. Lies about others in the family, saying they were raped by a family member, two different occurrences of lying they were pregnant. Triangulation and manipulation is what she is best at.
We wish others wouldn't judge the way we have to parent a child with RAD. We wish others would just leave their opinions to themselves if it isn't helpful. Unless you live this life you truly can't give advice or judgment. We're to the point now if someone tries to come at us, we simply say "I'm so thankful you don't understand, because I wouldn't wish this on anyone". We are alone in this, there isn't help for the child or the family. It's a very lonely life, because we can't enjoy anything because you never know the mood and siblings have to suffer. Our health has suffered, the doctor is very concerned about our blood pressure because of all the stress.
Sometimes prayers aren't answered because they aren't the right prayers. In our experience when people started praying for peace and safety for my spouse, other children and I, things started happening that could only be from God! Our RAD child doesn't want to change, she would rather be miserable than make the slightest effort to be kind.
